Indonesia’s Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs (Komdigi) has halted operations of Worldcoin and WorldID following a preliminary investigation. The suspension underscores the critical role of regulatory compliance in emerging markets.

PT Terang Bulan Abadi, the alleged local operator of Worldcoin, failed to register as an Electronic System Operator (PSE) under Indonesian law. The company also lacked mandatory TDPSE certification for legal operations.

Investigators discovered Worldcoin services were improperly using registration credentials from PT. Sandina Abadi Nusantara, a separate legal entity. This violation compounds the regulatory challenges facing the biometric cryptocurrency project in Southeast Asia’s largest economy.
